Stoked As
Historically, May in New Zealand has been known for pretty average weather and a lack of public holidays. However, since 2001 it's been celebrated around Aotearoa and the world as NZ Music Month. This year, we threw down the gauntlet to some of our favourite local artists and challenged them to come up with a mean as playlist with only one restriction, it has to be 100% Kiwi!
Each week we'll release a new playlist, but first up is everyone's favourite frontwoman, Liz Stokes from band The Beths.
Check out her playlist below, and you make sure you tune in to hear the full story behind the selections on-air. Happy NZ Music Month 2021 from Radio BurgerFuel.
The Beths released their sophmore album Jump Rope Gazers in July 2020 to critical international acclaim. They cleaned up with 3 Tuis at last year's Aotearoa Music Awards and their Facebook simply states "we are a band we play songs."
We left it to Liz to choose some songs. She's come up with some classic Crowded House & Che Fu, the first song she illegally downloaded, some fire hip-hop, a track from her old house/band mate Chelsea Jade (she their awesome lockdown video) and a wicked track from new Auckland band Babyteeth.
