Laneway 2015 Review
Laneway was back at a sold out Silo Park in Auckland yesterday for it's sixth incarnation. Here's 11 things I loved (or loathed) from Laneway 2015.
1) Vic Mensa's cover of Perfect Gentleman by Wyclef Jean
2) Royal Blood killing it in the sun at 4pm.
3) Jungle with a set of laidback party beats. Did the volume turn up loud halfway through?
4) Where was all the extra shade that was promised?
5) Not having to queue for hours for a drink, but having to queue for ages for food
6) Watching Banks wave her arms about from a rammed Cactus Cat stage, wishing you could hear her better and being reminded of Jessie Ware (same spot in 2013).
7) The big screen the organisers put to the side of Cactus Cat. Mainstream and genius.
8) Mr Samuel T. Herring of Future Islands, and hearing 'Seasons' live.
9) The Belle & Sebastian crew who said they could only top Future Islands "by playing really fucking good".
10) Whoever told Ratking they could finish 10 minutes early.
11) The PVC kimono St. Vincent wore as she literally strutted around the stage.
