Chow Down : 007 Danny2Chains
Welcome to Episode 7 of our weekly guest mix the Chow Down curated by me, Scizzorhands. Each week I'll bring you a different DJ as we travel all over the world, across loads of different genres.
If you follow back the roots of any genre in dance music you'll find they all have one thing in common, Jamaica. They were the first on earth to make bass heavy soundsystems for dance floors. But why? Well, like hip hop discovered the breaks, The Jamaicans also learned that heavy basslines made some people feel a certain kind of way. If you've ever hung out in front of a subwoofer at a party being mesmerised by the feeling of bass, that would probably discribe the reason why!
Hip hop culture took this knowledge and ran with it. Early dance music pioneers also used the knowledge of heavy basslines in house, techno and drum & bass. In short, we can thank Jamaica for helping pioneer music for as we know it today.
This weeks guest is a knowledgable man when it comes to all styles Jamaican. So when you mix dancehall with an eclectic music taste and a dash of Chains we get Danny2Chains.
After you peep this Guest mix, be sure to jump over to BaseFM and tune into his show Full Metal Racket.
